What is the minimum age requirement to join Powerflex Gym?

Anyone age 14 and over is allowed to join Powerflex Gym. However, anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign their paperwork at the time of enrollment.

Does Powerflex Gym charge enrollment, annual, or other start up fees?

Absolutely not! We never charge these additional fees to join and the only other cost due at sign up is a one-time fee of $5 for the 24 hour access key fob. We believe that you should only have to pay for your membership and nothing more.

I only plan to workout at Powerflex Gym during staff hours. Do I still have to purchase a key fob?

Even though some members plan on visiting the gym during staff hours only, it is a requirement that every member purchase a key fob. Not only does a key fob provide members with 24/7 access but it also serves as a means to accurately track visit and account information. In addition, a member may occasionally decide to workout at a different time and day and would not be able to access the facility. It is against our club policy for a member to allow someone without a valid key fob to enter the club during non-staff hours.

Do I have to sign a contract to join Powerflex Gym?

Even though we offer contract membership options it is definitely NOT the only option available when joining. We offer a wide range of paid-in-full as well as month-to-month membership plans. Most members choose our convenient monthly draft membership which can be cancelled anytime with a 30-day notice.

Can I “freeze” or suspend my membership if something happens and I can’t use the gym for a while?

Yes, all auto-draft membership agreements have the option to be suspended for a maximum 3 month time period. We can even freeze a membership just a few days prior to the upcoming draft date. The membership can be reinstated at anytime and the payments will automatically resume when the account is scheduled to reactivate. This option works well for those that are planning to travel, go back to school, or possibly dealing with a temporary financial issue.

When I join Powerflex Gym will my key fob work at all locations?

Absolutely. All members have free and unlimited 24/7 access to all locations.

Can I bring guests to the gym? What if I want to bring a guest before or after staff hours?

Members may bring guests to the club for $5/visit. A member may bring a guest to the club during non-staff hours as long as the guest signs in at the front desk. A member may notate on the registry that they have brought a guest and request that their account on file be charged accordingly.

Do you offer daily or weekly membership options for out of town visitors?

A visiting guest has the option to purchase a $10 day pass to use the gym. Guests that wish to use the gym for more than one day but less than a month have the option of purchasing a two-week membership for $30.

Does Powerflex Gym accept memberships covered by health insurance?

Yes, Powerflex Gym accepts the majority of insurance paid gym memberships. These programs include, but are not limited to, Prime fitness, Silver Sneakers, and United Healthcare. Simply stop by or call any club location during staff hours and we would be happy to verify your eligibility. The only cost associated with these memberships is the one-time charge for the 24/7 key fob.

Can anyone redeem the free trial pass? What if I don’t live in Albuquerque?

The free trial pass may only be redeemed by a local resident and first-time visitor to Powerflex Gym. All guests must present a valid ID or proof of local residence prior to redeeming the pass.

What type of membership discounts do you offer?

We offer a 10% discount on all membership packages for families (3 or more), students, seniors, military, police, and firefighters. We also offer corporate membership pricing with discounts of 20% or more depending on the number of plan participants.

Do you allow the use of chalk in the gym?

When used responsibly, a small amount of chalk is allowed in the gym. Members that choose to use chalk are required to clean up their area after they are done as well as any equipment used during their workout.

Is Powerlifting and Olympic-style lifting allowed at Powerflex Gym?

This is a question that we receive on a fairly regular basis.

Powerflex Gym prides itself on providing members with high quality free weight and strength equipment in a serious, no nonsense workout environment.  We do allow members to train on the basic powerlifting exercises such as squats, deadlifts, cleans, and presses.

However, we do not allow excessive weight slams and intentional bar and dumbbell drops

All members must utilize rubber mats during any ground lifts and should always control their weight during any movement.  Respect for other members and the club activity surrounding them should be observed at all times. Due to member safety concerns as well as possible equipment abuse and excessive noise, we do not allow Olympic lifts such as snatches, clean and jerks, etc. to be performed in the gym.
